Data

In order to facilitate continued study of tidal marsh birds in our study area, we have started to publicly release data collected and donated to our project. Check back for additional data releases.  If you have specific data needs that are not listed here, we encourage you to contact the SHARP Principal Investigators.  Check out our standard protocols for an idea of what kinds of data we have hidden around.  If your needs do not conflict with ours, we’ll likely be happy to try and help you out!

Publicly Available Data

We ask that you please acknowledge SHARP in all uses of these data, and if your use represents a substantial portion of a particular publication, please consider reaching out to the SHARP Principal Investigators for our greater involvement and potential authorship.

SHARP Bird Surveys (1994-2012) - Public Release: 22Oct2015 (519 downloads)

(data, metadata, and database contact information)
This database contains compiled data from 11 contributing organizations (see metadata) that conducted avian point counts between 1994 – 2012 within wetlands designated as E2EM (Estuarine Emergent Wetland – i.e., tidal salt marsh) by the National Wetland Inventory.  Each row indicates the maximum count of individuals of each species detected at a point for a particular year. Detections for our five focal species (Saltmarsh Sparrow, Seaside Sparrow, Nelson’s Sparrow, Willet, and Clapper Rail) are included in this database.

(data, metadata, and database contact information)
This database contains raw survey data gathered by SHARP technicians and collaborators using standardized protocols at 1,319 locations from Maine to Virginia (see metadata).  Detections for all bird species that were using the marsh (i.e., no flyovers or birds detected outside of the marsh habitat) are included in this database.

Saltmarsh bird density estimates

Modeled density estimates for marsh patches across the SHARP study region are available for download here. For more information on the derivation of these estimates, and to cite the data, see:
